Don't throw away jeans if their zipper is broken. There is an idea for a non-standard renovation
Many people are familiar with the situation when the zipper on their favorite jeans or trousers breaks or a button comes off.
If the button is sewn on as usual, it’s not so bad, but when it’s on a rivet, there’s another problem - a hole appears, in the place of which you can’t make a new rivet.
The zipper has to be ripped out and replaced with a new one; in the process, many more lines have to be removed, and in place of the button hole, a patch must be made or the trousers must be thrown out altogether.
But I came up with a fastening method in which a zipper is not needed, just like a button.
First you need to undo the broken zipper. If the button is in place, remove it as well. Next, I ripped the belt open on the side where the button was. At this point I will lengthen the belt by 4–5 cm.
I prepared a fabric similar in color and cut out a strip the width of a belt. On the reverse side I cut off part of the belt so that there was no hole from the button, and sewed another fabric.
I didn’t cut anything off the front side, I stitched the fabric, lengthening the waistband.
I stitched the zipper flap on the same side of the trousers and sewed it into the new elongated belt.
Where the loop is, I sewed a strip with an inscription.
Now there's a new clasp! This will be Velcro.
It will take two segments. The first is instead of a zipper, the second is instead of a button.
I separated the Velcro, stitched one strip on one side of the trousers, the other part on the other. It turned out to be an excellent replacement for a zipper - Velcro also does its job perfectly.
I made a small zigzag in place of the old one.
Another piece of Velcro goes on the belt. Thus, one part covered the button hole, the other part covered the loop.
Pants with a new fastener look as usual, no different. No one will guess that there is no lightning here. Everything fits on the side as well.
No more broken zippers or torn buttons. Velcro closes and opens with one hand movement.
