Forecasting the Future of FIRST Robotics (with Flask) ‖
Follow along as I write and publish a real-time web application using Flask, Vue.js, and PostgreSQL. Here I explain how the basic forecasting algorithm works and construct the back-end. I also discuss why I am making this app and the limitations I am putting on myself during the process.
I am an alumna of FIRST Robotics Competition team 2019, The Hitchhikers, and this program started while I was a high school student. It uses the basic algorithm from Elo Ratings applied to score margins.
"The FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) is an international high school robotics competition. Each year, teams of high school students, coaches, and mentors work during a six-week period to build game-playing robots that weigh up to 125 pounds (57 kg). Robots complete tasks such as scoring balls into goals, flying discs into goals, inner tubes onto racks, hanging on bars, and balancing robots on balance beams. The game, along with the required set of tasks, changes annually."
