How to Connect to Ubuntu EC2 Instances with FileZilla
In this tutorial you will learn how to connect to ubuntu EC2 instances using the FileZilla FTP client.
The standard username for Ubuntu instances is simply "ubuntu". Enter this as the username. (Optionally) enter a default directory such as "var/www" to make things easier in the future.
1: Get the Public DNS address for the EC2 instance. You can find it on the AWS website, in the information section for your instance.
2: Have the .pem key you made when launching your instance ready.
1: Open FileZilla, and add new site (Public DNS).
2: Go to the FileZilla settings. On the left, select SFTP.
3: Add the .pem key
After connecting it will generally be possible to transfer files to and from the server. However, some directories may need to have their permissions changed with chmod, so that the files can be accessed by the "ubuntu" user.
