Indeed, this machine has a lot of very contradictory characteristics, which make it difficult and uncomfortable to play on it. However, the SU-101 tank also has impressive strengths; you just need to know them and learn how to use them correctly in battle.
Let's start, as usual, with the fact that we have a really small margin of safety at our disposal; for some tanks we are one or even two shots away, not to mention artillery. But compared to most of its classmates, the SU-101 World of Tanks stands out with its good basic visibility of 380 meters.
Regarding the survivability parameters, everything is relative, but there will also be some pleasant moments here. So, there is no need to talk much about the hull armor, since the thickest part here is the VLD, but it is sewn by guns with penetration above 170 millimeters.
But the SU-101 has more impressive armor characteristics in the wheelhouse; this element is approximately 190 millimeters thick, and the gun mantlet, with a certain amount of luck, is capable of ricocheting shells from even top-end vehicles.
Now about the promised pleasant aspects regarding survivability: the SU-101 World of Tanks has a very small size and excellent stealth, which gives us a number of advantages, which will be discussed later.
In addition, our self-propelled gun is the fastest and most mobile tank destroyer at the level. The SU-101 has an excellent maximum speed, thanks to its enchanting dynamics we will give some medium tanks a head start, and everything is very good with maneuverability.
First, let's look at the pre-top SU-101 gun, the main feature of which is that the alphastrike is small for a tank destroyer of our level, but at the same time has an excellent rate of fire, thanks to which we are able to inflict about 2900 units of pure damage per minute.
Another strong point of this barrel will be accuracy. If we equip the Soviet tank SU-101 World of Tanks with a melon gun, we get a pleasant spread, fast aiming, and even despite weak stabilization, the game will be comfortable.
But, of course, this gun has a number of disadvantages, the first of which will be weak armor penetration, so if you want excellent DPM, you will have to carry more gold shells with you. In addition, due to the rear location of the cabin, the SU-101 World of Tanks has disgusting elevation angles, and the vertical angle of 7.3 degrees in each direction is also not the best indicator.
Now in front of you is a top-end gun of the tenth level, which is characterized by a far from being a record among its classmates, but already a higher alpha strike. True, the rate of fire for this gun is much worse, so with it, as can be seen in the screenshot, the SU-101 tank produces a much lower DPM.
The second tangible advantage of this barrel is its armor penetration parameters. Having made a choice in favor of the alpha PT-SAU SU-101 World of Tanks, we will be able to fight normally even with top-end equipment, but for especially tough opponents it is better to carry a little gold with you.
And now about less pleasant things. With such weapons, our accuracy deteriorates (but the dispersion is still quite comfortable), the aiming speed drops very much and, as you understand, the situation with stabilization will also not please you. In addition, we still have the same terrible vertical aiming angles, as well as weak UGNs.
To sum up, I would like to say that the gun should be chosen based on your personal preferences. For fans of the alpha game, a top-end gun is suitable, and if you respect DPM more and have silver to buy gold shells, equip your SU-101 WoT with a pre-top gun.
