A controversial Youtube star has started selling T-shirts branding Gladys Berejiklian a 'koala killer' in the wake of recent bushfires.
Jordan Shanks, who goes by the username FriendlyJordies, has taken aim at the NSW Premier and other Liberal politicians for failing to recognise climate change as a potential explanation for unprecedented fire conditions throughout the state.
The 29-year-old uploaded a video to his 339,000 subscribers on Thursday, highlighting the destruction and damage to Australian flora and fauna in the catastrophic fires and the Liberal party's response to the emergency.
Berejiklian is branded a 'koala killer' in the video, with Shanks selling t-shirts with a picture of the Premier above the hashtag 'koala killer.'
The video outlines drastic budget cuts in the 2019-2020 budget by the Liberal party for fire and rescue, including a 75 per cent cut for the Rural Fire Service, and offering drought relief funds to towns in marginal seats that aren't effected by drought conditions.
Berejiklian and other politicians including Prime Minister Scott Morrison have vehemently denied changing climate conditions have anything to do with the bushfires, with Berejiklian frequently avoiding climate queries, brushing off the suggestion as a 'political argument.'
Shanks calls the impact of the fires to the environment the 'greatest catastrophe to have ever faced this nations history,' with 1,800 species of plants and animals facing potential extinction after fires ravaged important habitats throughout the state.
'Get this hashtag going, #koalakiller,' Shanks said.
'Post that nickname on every update she makes on social media from now until the day that she is faithfully booted out of office and if there is any justice left in the world, thrown in jail.'
