Sprint Spike Technology Review
I have finally produced a comprehensive review of some current sprint spikes and, in particular, the newer generation of technologically ‘enhanced’ sprint spikes that have made appearances at the elite level in the last year.
We all like to think that the shoes we purchase will have a significant impact on our actual performance. While many sports don’t allow us to accurately measure that impact, sprinting is probably one of the most closely examined activities as it relates to speed improvements or time reductions because even one-hundredth of a second can mean the difference between an Olympic medal or a world record.
Does the technology in the new generation of sprint spikes make a quantitative difference? We take a closer look at various sprint spikes from Nike so that we are comparing apples to apples. This is not a paid or sponsored review. It is an objective look at what you get for your money. Other shoe companies have similar offerings. Some athletes may want the top of the line shoes to shave off hundredths of seconds, while others may be content to purchase an economical shoe to achieve their goals for both training and competition. The decision is ultimately up to you.
