HIYA! Last year, on April 2, 2019, I released an experimental, self-titled musical piece: "Cantavanda". And now, over a year later, I finally upload it in its entirety on YouTube. I hope you enjoy!

It got released on CD, limited to 137 copies, each copy hand-numbered and signed. Over half of the copies got sold, which surprises me, but nonetheless makes me very happy! There's still plenty available on Bandcamp if you want one!

The entire mini-album just consists of one very long and varied track, that is 31:37 minutes long, and 137 miliseconds too lol. It jumps from genre to genre, from sound to sound, has a lot of different moods, and contains an extreme number of instruments and sound recordings: Some sampled, some recorded by me. This all combined creates a very varied and unique listening experience.

The track is very experimental and inaccessible... It is not at all for everyone. Almost no one will enjoy every single part of it, it's too bizarre for that. But I'm sure you can find at least one part in it you like!

My intention with this mini-album wasn't to create fun-to-listen music that you'd want to play all the time. Not at all. My intention was to create a unique musical experience that takes you to many places when you listen to it in its entirety. A musical journey, an adventure.

You might dislike it a lot, I don't mind! You might find that it's bad or think it sucks too, and I don't mind either! But you can't deny that it's unique at least. It is more of an artistic statement, a story, an experience than pure music that you listen to enjoy.

Some of the genres included: Ambient, romantic classical, noise, Gregorian chant, baroque, pop, trash metal, ballad, & more....

The meaning of this piece? There's two meanings. The first one is why it's self-titled: It is a reflection of my inner mind into one musical piece. I wanted to put my entire personality and tastes into one big long track.

The second meaning is a retelling of the creation of the universe by Jehovah God. And every part reflects a part of the creation. The universe contains light, and darkness. Beautiful landscapes, but also violent explosions (voclanoes & supernovas). An example: The trash metal part talks about the violence and hunting of the dinosaurs. Or, the funny clownish part talks about some of the humour God has put into his creation: Not everything has to be serious. And the ending, the orchestral pop ballad, talks about how God creates the first human, Adam. The piece ends there.

Making this piece was a huge challenge, production-wise. When making this, I still had much to learn in music production, and wanting to do such a big project while still learning is a bit crazy lol. It took me months to create. I could've done some things better, especially in the "loudness" and "mastering" departments, but still, I think it's not bad!

Many many years ago, when I was about 14 or 15, I started getting ideas in my head about an experimental, long, self-titled piece like this. Over the years, I sometimes would think again about it. So the base idea had a lot of time to ripen, even though all of the execution was done in a few months.

Some parts were improvised: Not written down and just recorded in one take. Like the music box with the child counting, or some acoustic guitar parts in the beginning. But other parts were written down in detail, with a lot of thought put in everything, such as the final parts for example: The baroque part, trash metal part and orchestral ballad at the end.

Each part has its own set of inspirations and influences. But two major inspirations that had great impact on the general structure of the piece are "Fiori Chiari, Fiori Oscuri" by Alvin Curran and "ART OF LIFE" by X JAPAN.

A lot of music is coming in the future! Much more accessible, "normal" music. I'm working on multiple "Visual Kei" poprock singles, that will get music videos, and be uploaded on my channel. Sneak peaks soon!

The vocals are the worst part of this piece, but luckily they improved a lot since this, for future releases!
