Composition: Cantavanda Piano Rhapsody No. 2 [First Live Performance]
Hello! Here is me performing my piano rhapsody no. 2 in C major: "Scherzo: DREAM I" live for the first time. I worked a lot on the composition, and am very happy with the result. A professional recording of this and other piano pieces are planned soon on my channel!
This is the second in many planned rhapsodies, one in each key. This one is in C major, and is a scherzo at the same time. A rhapsody is a music piece with many different themes and melodies, instead of focusing on just a few and varying on them. A scherzo is a kind of parody, and litirally comes from the word "joke", so this piece doesn't take itself seriously, it's over the top on purpose, especially the end that just goes on and on. And this is the first in many pieces that I want to be "dream like". My definition of that is that emotionally and logically there is not much sense of direction, a lot doesn't need to have any relation with each other, it just happens for the sake of happening, not for a reason. Of course I did think a lot of this piece through, but still I tried not to think too logically about the direction when making it.
In this piece I used every one of the 88 piano keys, and even an extra G that is lower then the piano can possibly go, so 89 keys in total. I love it when a piece uses all keys. Also, this piece goes everywhere in the musical timeline, there's a purely harmonic part, like chorals, there's a little dodecarphony and serialism, there's ragtime and also a lot of very Liszt like octaves!
Bonus for the MM fans: One part was inspired by Nps Ngs, can you find which? All the rest came (harmonically) completely from me!
