What is Juneteenth 2022 | Honoring the end of our MAAFA |Juneteenth Explained
Hey everybody, so I wanted to start by explaining Juneteenth and giving you all a brief history about Juneteenth, its relevance to us as Social Workers and Helping Professionals and why I believe it is our true Independence Day. Maafa is a Kiswahili term give to us by the elder Marimba Ani. Marimba Ani is also the author of the book Yurugu.
Juneteenth Celebrations across the United States are a symbol of African American history and culture that highlights our resilience, our commitment to freedom and a reverence for our ancestors.
