Setting up a trust between two domains running Windows Server 2022
1. Prepare
DC21 : Domain Controller(Yi.vn), IP 10.0.0.21 | WIN111 : Domain Member(Yi.vn), IP 10.0.0.111 | DC254 : Routing Server, IP 10.0.0.254, 10.0.2.254
DC26 : Domain Controller(Yz.vn), IP 10.0.2.26 | WIN112 : Domain Member(Yz.vn), IP 10.0.2.112
2. Step by step : Setting up a trust between Yi.vn vs Yz.vn
Turn off local Firewall at all
DC21 : Configure Conditional Forwarders in DNS
Server Manager - Tools - DNS - DC21 - Right-Click Conditional Forwarders - New Conditional Forwarders...
DNS Domain : Yz.vn , IP Addresses of the master servers : 10.0.2.26 - OK
Start - cmd - Ping Yz.vn === OK # Test resolve DNS queries
DC26 : Configure Conditional Forwarders in DNS. Do the same DC21 with DNS Domain : Yi.vn, IP Addresses : 10.0.0.21
DC21 : Configure trust with Yz.vn
Server Manager - Tools - Active Directory Domains and Trusts - Right-click Yi.vn - Properties - Trusts tab - New Trusts...
Name : Yz.vn - Trust Type : Choose "Forest trust" - Direction of Trust : Choose "Two-way" - Sides of Trust : Choose "This domain only"
Outgoing Trust Authentication Level : Choose "Forest-wide authentication" - Trust Password : Type password and confirm
Confirm Outgoing Trust : Choose "Yes, confirm the outgoing trust" - Confirm Incoming Trust : Choose "Yes, confirm the incoming trust" - Finish
DC26 : Configure trust vs Yi.vn. Do the same DC21 with Name : Yi.vn, confirm using Yi\administrator
WIN111 : Create, share a folder name DATA_Yi, assign permission for HiepYz ( belong Yz.vn )
WIN112 : Create, share a folder name DATA_Yz, assign permission for HiepYi ( belong Yi.vn )
WIN111 logon using HiepYi test access to DATA_Yz === OK
WIN112 logon using HiepYz test access to DATA_Yi === OK
