The God Idea

They say it was the God
That made us and the world
Different stories were told
Yahweh, Allah, and
Vishnu were made and sold
They need your cash and gold
You can’t question or call them fraud
Or tell them that their idea is very odd
Unless you don’t mind facing the firing squad
The mob make sure that you will be ridiculed
They all have their own tale and code
And accompanying fashion,
silly hats and mode
When I first heard the silly stuff, I yawned
I can’t help but think that the idea was flawed
There is something about their
seriousness very shrewd
They don’t agree with each other on gods or God
I was told it was better to smile, nod, and applaud
They want you and need you make a big squad
To control the enrolled
To unfold and uphold
To scold, mold, till you are bold
And to spread silly ideas
to the end of the world.
