This video explains how to separate a corner piece from its corresponding edge piece when they are both on the top layer but adjacent to each other. They first have to be separated, without disturbing any edges already solved, then dealt with like other F2L pairings.
This only shows with the white side of the corner piece facing up, but the concept works for the corner in any orientation. This is demonstrated on a 3x3x3 with two examples and a 6x6x6 with two examples.
