How Dictatorships Usually Fall and What Is Missing for Venezuela’s to Fall
Maduro did it again, he made the world believe that Venezuela was a democracy where there was room for the opposition. He campaigned like any other candidate to show himself as a contender for the presidency. However, despite the overwhelming favoritism in the streets for Edmundo Gonzalez and Maria Corina Machado, despite the fact that polls from reputable companies showed Maduro's opponent as the winner, the Venezuelan regime was declared the winner of an election with a not very credible result. As in the past, the Chavista-controlled National Electoral Council declared Nicolás Maduro president with little doubt to the international community and Venezuelans that an unprecedented fraud had taken place. So there are three questions worth trying to answer. How do dictatorships end up falling? What is missing for Venezuela's to fall? And why didn't María Corina Machado and Edmundo González call for a protest?
