In general, the whole point of the WT line was to install powerful weapons on a cheap chassis. Here, the tank destroyer was developed on the basis of the super-heavy tank E 100, and it cannot be called cheap, but for us this is not important. What matters is what we carry on this chassis. Namely, two top guns with a loading drum, capable of destroying 99% of the tanks in the game with one cassette! This is not Bat.-Châtillon 25 t, not T57 Heavy and not AMX 50 V. Let's look at the WT auf E 100 in more detail.
So, we got the hull armor from the E 100, as mentioned above, although we lost the screens, but still 120 mm remained on the sides, the hull’s VLD is actually impenetrable and has 200 mm, but the NLD, of course, no one will shoot there , because we have a tower.
And now the tower. This is a separate conversation, because there is no armor there, no. Even light tanks can be penetrated by landmines. The turret's armor is essentially ridiculous for a level 10 tank destroyer and is only 20/10/8 (front/side/stern). It is important to remember that artillery will also penetrate there.
Due to the heavily armored hull, the tank's weight is high and is approximately 102 tons with additional equipment. However, the tank has pretty good mobility. “Under the hood” we have a 1200 hp engine. It gives us a specific power of ~9hp. per ton, which, coupled with good ground performance, can reach a maximum speed of 40 kilometers per hour, which is quite good.
And now the most important advantage of this tank destroyer is its weapon. And there are two of them.
First, this is a weapon that comes complete with the tank destroyer itself and does not require research. This is 12.8 cm Kanone L/61
This weapon is suitable for playing at long distances. This is one of the most accurate weapons in the game. 1.5 seconds of aiming coupled with a spread of 0.29 gives us excellent shooting from a distance. Shooting at the commander's cupola at 400 meters? Yes Easy! Hit the IS-7 NLD from 500 meters? No problem! As we can see, the gun has 5 shells in a drum with an average of 560 damage each, which gives an average of 560*5=2800 damage per drum. However, you will have to pay for such a “luxury” by recharging the entire “drum” in 58 seconds. There are no problems with armor penetration, but using one or two “drums” of sub-caliber shells will never be a bad idea. You never know if we'll come across some JagdPanzer E 100 that plays from the wheelhouse, that's where they come in handy.
Next comes the 15 cm Pak L/38 gun. This weapon has disgusting accuracy and penetration. But the damage per reel is higher and the one-time damage is pleasing, as much as 750 units.
A penetration of 235 mm is clearly not enough for us to fight against comrades of the same level, which means we are completely dependent on cumulative shells. The weapon is not for ambush tactics. So we will support our allies at close range. We go out, give the drum and go to reload.
