Ski resort Obertauern is located 90 kilometers south of Salzburg at 1,740 meters above sea level, in the middle of the Radstädter Tauern. The snowiest wintersports destination in Austria is the highest skiresort in Salzburgerland and reaches an altitude of 2,313 meters. Eight kilometers to the north is the village of Untertauern at 1,009 meters above sea level. On the south side of the pass, Tweng at 1,233 meters in Salzburg's Lungau region is also eight kilometers away from Obertauern.
The 2024/25 winter ski season starts on November 22, 2024 and end on May 1, 2025.
Ski opening with a star act - Obertauern is celebrating the opening of the 2024 season with an explosive musical event: on 29 November 2024, the cult band Scooter will heat up Obertauern at an open-air concert and perform their greatest hits such as “God Save the Rave” and “Hyper Hyper”.
