Hip pain can be such a complex area for both patients and clinicians. This doesn’t help people understand where hip pain is coming from, what causes hip pain and more importantly how to manage  and treat hip pain.
Social media and online content is rife with information on how to mange hip pain, whether it is how to fix your hip pain, how to free up your hips, hip mobility exercises, hip rehab, hip strengthening exercises, whatever it may be. Unfortunately though there is a lot  out there that is not conducive to a  successful recovery, often following old narratives and not well clinically reasoned.
I want to make an effort on this channel to share evidence based correct information based on my experience as a specialist hip physio of over a decade +.
I’m keen to hear your myths too or something you would be keen for me to answer in the comments!

All too often patients are told that their pain is attributable to either their anatomy  and it really frustrates me. Information is given, shared and even given to patients, blaming their pain for what essentially is untrue, not the cause and effectively nothing that can be influenced by a clinician.   Whether it's being told about a tilted pelvis, whether is being told that one hip is higher than the other or that their hips are unstable, it is just not that simple. I saw a post not long ago advising that  a patient had an unstable hip......all because they have a slightly weaker glute?! Terminology and language sticks with patients and whether you're trying to explain something in more layman's terms, it our responsibility to be as transparent as possible but to educate our patients correctively. 

Stop looking for a quick fix as pain is just not that simple.
