Glidecam // BMPCC 6K with Gyro Stabilization
Not too long ago I finally updated my Bmpcc 6K to the latest firmware which gave me the in-camera gyro data. Since then I've been filming quite a bit of test footage with my Glidecam and using the in-camera gyro data to stabilise the footage in Davinci Resolve 18.
I'm really impressed with the results of the gyro stabilisation, it's a huge improvement over the normal stabilisation method in Davinci. For starters, you don't get any of those abnormal warping effects and the stabilising is much smoother. There's still a slight crop-in on the image but that's not a big deal especially when shooting in 6K.
I really enjoy filming with my Glidecam as I find the movements to be more organic and natural, compared to using an electronic gimbal. And once I apply the gyro stabilisation my glide shots are super smooth and I don't have to worry about messing around with the other stabilisation settings, so my workflow is much faster.
Having the ability to stabilise with gyro data is definitely a game-changer, not just for glidecam work but also for shooting handheld. It's something I'll definitely be using well into the future and I recommend testing it out if you haven't already!
