How to use Continuity Camera on macOS Mojave
Continuity includes functions such as Handoff, Universal Clipboard, iPhone Cellular Calls and more.
To enable these functions, all your devices should be logged into the same iCloud account, have bluetooth and wifi turned on, as well as have the handoff turned on. To turn on Handoff for iOS devices, go to Settings - General - Handoff and turn on Handoff. For Mac go to Apple Menu - System Preferences - General. Select “Allow Handoff between this Mac and your iCloud devices.”
To use handoff all you have to do is just find the corresponding app icon on your second device. For example click on the Mail app icon on your macOS dock’s left side while composing a new e-mail on your iOS device. This will instantly bring up the e-mail and let you pick up where you left off on your iOS device. Keep in mind that your app needs to support the hand-off feature.
To use universal clipboard, all you have to do is copy the text on one device and paste it on another device normally. The content is automatically added to the clipboard of your other nearby device. It remains there briefly, or until you replace it by copying something else on either device.
Handoff also has a new feature which is called Continuity Camera. This feature allows you to import a photo or a scanned document using your phone’s camera. Right click anywhere in finder and go to Import from iPhone. Choose whether you want to take a picture or scan a document. Your iPhone will wake up and open up the camera app. Take a photo and tap Use Photo. The image will appear in the finder. Tap retake to try again.
You can also do the same in apps other than Finder, for instance Pages, Numbers or Mail. Just right click and choose between taking a picture or scanning a document.
