Lake Reindeer 101 - How Big Is Reindeer Lake Actually?
Reindeer Lake, A Large Freshwater Lake Situated In Western Canada, Within The Provinces Of Saskatchewan And Manitoba. Covering Roughly 2,568 Square Miles (6,650 Square Km) In Total Surface Area, Lake Reindeer In The Second Largest Lake In Saskatchewan After Lake Athabasca, The Ninth Largest Freshwater Lake In Canada, And The 21st Largest Freshwater Lake In The World. Most Of Reindeer Lake Is Located In Northeastern Saskatchewan, Although A Small Part Of The Lake Extends Into Manitoba. The Lake Lies At An Elevation Of 1,106 Feet (337 Meters), And It Is Roughly 245 Kilometers Long And Up To 56 Kilometers Wide At Its Widest Point. The Lake's Average Depth Is 17 Meters (56 Feet), With A Maximum Depth Of 219 Meters (719 Feet).
The Lake Has A Heavily Indented And Rugged Shoreline Measuring Roughly 3400 Kilometers. The Lake Contains Roughly 5500 Big And Small Islands And This Islands Are Heavily Forested.
On The Southern End Of The Lake, Lies Deep Bay,
A Roughly Circular Bay, Created As A Result Of Meteorite Impact Roughly About 99 Million Years Ago. The Bay Measures About 13 Kilometres (8.1 Mi) Wide And Has A Depth Of 220 Metres (720 Ft), This Makes The Bay, The Deepest Body Of Water In Saskatchewan.
Several Small Community Towns Such As Kinoosao (Saskatchewan), Brochet (Manitoba), Southend (Saskatchewan) Are Situated Along The Shores Of Lake Reindeer.
The Lake Is Fed By Numerous Streams, And It Drains Southward Over A Control Dam Into The Reindeer River, A Tributary Of The Churchill.
