Product Placement on Stargate ... Was Sometimes Tricky! (Dial the Gate)
STARGATE'S ROSTER OF TALENT ran deep, beyond the cast and the writers and directors to the folks that kept the gears turning day in and day out on the sprawling production. In the show's production office at The Bridge Studios in Vancouver, British Columbia, that included Cath-Anne Ambrose – the shows' production associate and script coordinator.
In this clip from "Dial the Gate," Cath-Anne and host David Read dig deep into her fascinating work for the show. This included working with companies over product placement, from SG-1's North Face jackets to the box of crayons Jack gives to the alien girl Merrin ("Learning Curve"), to an issue of Mad Magazine that made an appearance on Jack's porch ("Shades of Grey"). She also worked with the Air Force, managed the show's growing bible of lore, interfaced with the legal team to clear the use of names that appear in scripts, and much more.
