When STARGATE Shows Up To Film (Dial the Gate)
STARGATE FILMED 17 SEASONS of television in and around the greater Vancouver, British Columbia area – not just in those familiar forests and gravel pits but beaches, towns, snowy mountain tops, and bright yellow sulfur pits that could double as alien planets. For all of it the show’s location manager was Lynn Smith.
“Dial the Gate” goes behind the scenes with Lynn to learn about the work of a location manager – from scouting potential shooting locations to allowing enough space for the crew to set up camp for a day or a week, to getting clearances for things like gunfire and explosions! She also talks about keeping the train moving with numerous scripts in production simultaneously, and the advantages of revisiting familiar locations as the show went on.
