This video reviews the Lists feature. Lists provide the ability to create, edit, and save lists of attributes or lists of SKUs for use in your feed rules.
The Lists feature is found under the Import tab.
Every GoDataFeed Store is equipped with two List templates, a colors list and a sizes list.
Click on a List to open it and view the values. You can add values to either of the two templated lists by clicking into the dialog box, entering new values, and clicking the blue Save button. You can clone any list by clicking the copy button here.
Now let's walk through creating a new list. First you'll click the blue plus button here and name your List, and put a description that describes the contents of your list.
When it comes to adding list values you can manually type in the dialog box or you can copy and paste a list from an outside application. So if your List of product attributes or SKUs is in Excel you just copy all values and paste in here and the List is formatted by the default comma delimiter.
Another example is a tab delimited list in Notepad or another application, you will still copy the values and paste in the dialog box, then you change the symbol in the Delimiter box here to a tab, and the List will auto-format like this. You'll do this for any list that has a delimiter that is not the defaulted comma delimiter.
Remember to click Save when you are done creating and editing your list of values.
Now we'll review how to utilize Lists in feed rules. I'll hop into my Google Shopping feed and navigate to rules.
Here is the rule I created to submit a sale price to Google for the SKUs that appear in my Summer Sale SKU list. You can see here i set feed sale price to my catalog's sale price, and apply the rule to run for some products, whose SKU value from my catalog 'is in list' and select the Summer Sale SKU list.
Now if you wanted to create a rule that applies to products not included in a SKU list, you would select 'is not in list' from the dropdown menu.
Now let's create a rule that extracts values from a field within our catalog data when values match an item in a List. There are 3 extract string functions to accomplish this: extract first, extract last and extract all. You'll select the string function that matches the location of values within your data fields.
So for example, my catalog's data does not have a color field with values, but instead product colors are included in the description field.
To select an extract function click on the Functions button. Here I'll select extract first because I would like to extract the first value that matches a value in my colors list.
Then I'll set the field to extract from, which is my description field, and I'll drag and drop the double curly brackets to format the function, set to all products, and click Save.
Now if I wanted to extract the last color value that appears in my description field, I would select the extract last function, or if I wanted to submit every color that appears in my description field as a comma separated list in the feed color field, I would select the extract all function.
To summarize, leveraging lists in your feed rules can significantly enhance your feeds with additional attributes and product segmentation.
