Toyota was committed to desert racing and to winning on the stadium circuit. The Mickey Thompson Grand Prix Circuit Off-Road Championship.
Ivan "Ironman" Stewart was leading the charge. They had a new sponsor, Yokohama tire which gave them a boost.
A new driver, Robby Gordon, was on hand to help. Toyota wins the Manufacturers Championship and rookie Robby Gordon wins the Driver's championship. Another good year for Team Toyota.
