San Marino, Claims To Be One Of The World's Oldest Republics, As Per Sayings, The Country Was Founded By Saint Marinus, A Christian Stonemason, Who Established A Small Community On The Top Of Mount Titano In 301 Ad, Seeking Refuge From Religious Persecution From The Roman Empire. This Community Eventually Grew Into The Present-day Republic Of San Marino. Throughout History, San Marino Maintained Its Autonomy And Independence By Forming Alliances, Agreements, And Treaties With Neighboring Powers, Such As The Papal States And Various Italian Kingdoms. It Did Not Engage In Conquests Or Seek To Enlarge Its Territory Through Military Means. Therefore, In Terms Of Territorial Expansion, San Marino's Land Area Has Remained Relatively Stable And Confined To Its Original Small Size Around Mount Titano. The Constitution Of San Marino, Initially Established In 1600, Is One Of The Oldest Constitutions Still In Effect.
The Country Has A Total Population Of Roughly 34,000 Inhabitants And Is Divided Into 9 Municipalities. The Capital City, Also Named San Marino, Is Located On The Western Slopes Of Mont Titano.
