How to have windows 8 1 start at the desktop instead of the start screen?
Hi my name is Roger Ahuja and I'm going to show you how on Windows 8.1 you can have when you first turn on your computer you can it start directly on the desktop as opposed to the start menu that you normally get. So what you basically what you do is right click along the task bar here go to properties, navigation and then right here you just check this box when I sign in or close all apps on the screen go to the desktop instead of start. And now when you restart the computer it will go straight to the desktop. The other thing you can do to have it look more like the older version of windows is check this box which says show the apps view automatically when I go to start. You can also uncheck this which searches everywhere instead of just your apps when you search from the apps view. And what that will do is now when I hit the start button here it takes me to all the apps and there's a search button here and just start typing whatever you're looking for and that's it.
