There are numerous methods used for auto-tuning PID compensators. This video looks at resources which enable a compare and contrast evaluation of a few popular choices. The auto-tuning is based on a user parameterisation or modelling of the system by approximating to a second order system with dead-time. Based on these model parameters, the PID parameters are defined explicitly. Different methods result is slightly different behaviours which can be observed through the app on a number of pre-coded case studies.
