You can import photos into Animal Crossing New Horizons with these simple items:
A Nintendo Switch
A copy of ACNH
A smartphone with the Nintendo Switch Online app installed

Simply download the Nintendo Switch Online app to your smart phone & link the same account you're using to play Animal Crossing New Horizons. Then head to www.acpatterns.com and select editor. In here you can upload your own images and convert them into pixelated versions for use within the game. When you're happy with the result click convert to QR code. At this point load up the smartphone app, select Animal Crossing New Horizons, select custom designs and then scan the QR code you just created.
Then next time you're playing the game open your Nook Inc phone, select custom designs, hit "+" to download custom design and BOOM, it will import the custom design currently stored on your real world smartphone app.
