$42,000+ FTC Fine PER VIDEO For Kids Content! What You Need To Know
Going forward, if you make YouTube videos that are for kids and mark them as NOT being for kids, you can get fined $42,000 per video by the FTC, due to data privacy concerns.
In this video I cover 2 things in detail.
1. What EXACTLY is considered to be kids content, based on the language YouTube uses?
There's a lot of videos that might seem like they are in a gray area, and the U.S. Federal Trade Commission is the one that ultimately has the final say on what is and isn't kids content.
The problem is, with such vague language we don't know exactly what is considered kids content, until it's too late and you may end up getting fined.
So you might think the simple solution is to just mark questionable contents as being made for kids.
And that's where these other issues come into play...
2. Kids content will be taking a MASSIVE hit.
For starters, kids content will no longer have these features:
Personalized Ads
Stories
Community Tab
Notifications
Comments
Info Cards
End Screens
Watch Later (on those videos)
Save The Video (on YouTube premium)
With just the loss of personalized ads, most creators can expect to see 60-90% LESS ad revenue coming in.
Then consider the loss of all the other features will likely mean far less views, and you can see how dramatically this will impact earnings from YouTube Adsense on content made for kids.
Plus there will be no interaction between fans and the creator or fans, eliminating that sense of community that makes YouTube so unique.
Finally, without comments, end screens and info cards, it's going to be REALLY hard for creators to create other streams of revenue off of YouTube.
While all this combined may seem like a death blow for kids content creators, there are some solutions, but for most of them you'll need to act quickly.
