How to add and remove a password on an Excel 2013 spreadsheet?
Hi My name is Roger Ahuja and I'm going to take a couple of minutes and show you how to put a password on an Excel document and then remove it using Excel 2013. So, first I'll get Excel started here and just going to make a blank document and we'll just put the word test in there for now. And then here under file there's an option to encrypt it with a password. I'll just put in a password and then we'll go back to the main screen and close out. And we'll save it as test. So, now, when I open up this document, it's going to ask me for a password. and then if I want to remove the password you would think that you would come back here and there would be an option to remove the password, but there isn't. So the way you have to actually remove the password is a little silly in my opinion, but that's the way we can work around it is once you've opened your document and you're in your document. You go to file save as and go to my documents folder because that's where I'm working and there's the file. I select the file then under tools here I go to general options and delete the password that's there and I hit okay and then I'm going to save it over the existing file and what that will do is that will delete the old file and put in the new file without a password. And so now if I go back into Excel and I open that document, there's no password required. And that's it.
