Utilising the Zyklus Improvisor as a custom arpeggiator / loop player, this is a demonstration of how Daft Punk created one of the most memorable tracks on the Tron Legacy soundtrack.
By inputting just the initial arpeggio pattern (in G Minor) the entire piece can be recreated note for note, just by inputting the right chord progression.
Track one is recorded live (the arpeggio). Tracks 2 - 5 were pre-arranged.
Track 2 is just a bass note.
Track 3 is a warm synth pad. It has a single note (on the dominant) on layer two (for the introduction), and then duplicates the input chord on layer two for the rest of the piece after the introduction.
Track 4 is also a chord, this time for violins. In the original this part is actually played by an orchestra.
Track 5 uses the Zyklus' built in arpeggiator to produce the 16th note bass line.
Most of the time the bass note just follows the bottom note of the arpeggio / input note, however there are 3 chords in the piece that use a different note, and this was achieved using the Xposer function, which acts on tracks 2 and 5 (the bass notes).
The Xposer function is adjusted by imputing a single note after the chord. This is done at 0:58, 1:03 and 1:12.
