Hiking in Ikaria to Dionysus Cave | Home of Greek God in Blue Zone Greece
Ikarians believe that the Greek God Dionysus was born near the mount of Drakano and lived in the Cave of Iero. Being the God of fruitfulness and wine, it could be the reason why Ikarian wine was considered one of the best in ancient times. The cave is located near the village of Faros on Ikaria island, Greece by Iero beach.
In this video, we take a short walk from the village of Faros to the famous cave and show you the beautiful, rugged landscapes of Ikaria island. We also spotted two sheep on the way back. As we explained, Ikarians do eat meat and dairy. But, the quality of animal products is by far superior to standard supermarket food. Animals freely roam and graze on wild herbs.
