Microsoft Phone Scam
Hi my name is Roger Ahuja and I'm going to take a moment to talk to you about a phone scam that's going around recently. I personally know of about a half a dozen people that have come to me where they've received this phone call and I've received this phone call myself which was a bit surprising, but what they will basically do is they will call you claiming to be from Microsoft and they're not from Microsoft. They're going to show you in your computer errors in your event viewer and I'm going to show you here in my computer if I pull up event viewer and go to the event logs here and go to the windows logs and there's a couple of errors right there. Every event viewer has errors in it, but what they do is they tell you that because of these errors, your systems been hacked into and they're from Microsoft and they're calling you to get your system cleaned up and they want to charge you a few hundred dollars to fix it. This is a scam, it's not real. They're going to remote in take over your computer. Who knows what else they're going to do. Obviously don't let them into your computer. Hang up on them. Don't interact with them. So you can read through this page if you want, but the bottom line really comes down to Microsoft does not call you unless you've initiated something with them. If you ever get an unsolicited phone call it's a scam. Don't give them any information, don't give them access to your computer and just hang up on them and that's it.
