Are You Taking the Wrong Thyroid Medication?
Are you taking the right Thyroid medication and in the right amount?
It all starts in the brain.
The pituitary gland sense that your Thyroid hormones are dropping off in your brain. This stimulates your brain to produce a particular hormones known as TSH, Thyroid Simulating Hormone. TSH stimulates the thyroid gland to make two forms of the hormone, T4 and T3. The trick is to convert T4 to T3 which is active and alive. This will be achieved through a protein carrier. It gets carried to the liver and the kidney. This is where the problems arises because your doctor doesn't test for it. Quantity of T3 should be tested as well.
This may happen due to poor liver function or poor kidney function, digestive issues, or high cortisol. All of the following issues will shut down the conversion from T4 to T3. What does T3 do?! It goes into the cell and it tells the nucleus, which genes to turn on and which genes to turn off to regulate the metabolism of that cell on that particular day.
