Rules: Beat the game with only Leonardo. No subweapons are allowed, including that invincibility item. If you accidentally pick one up, you have to restart. Also make sure to sing the leave me alone song for the entirety of the underwater section. It's the only way to truly complete the challenge.
After finishing a Mike and a Raph version of this challenge I decided to give Leo a try. All you have to do is beat the game only playing as Leonardo, without using subweapons. This includes the invincibility item that makes your turtle spin around. In fact, don't even pick anything up. Subweapons are lava. If you pick one up at all then the challenge is failed. Because using a continue revives the other turtles, don't do that either. There's a "no commentary" version of this that I uploaded as well if that better suits you. This recording was only of the successful attempt, not the practice beforehand.
I think the commentary pretty much nullifies the need for written highlights, but you can always check the version with no commentary for that, or if you can't stand my voice or loud clicky controller buttons, however I think it's become customary for me to mention all of the mistakes I made while speaking. I guess that's what you get when you're talking while playing rather than recording a separate voiceover after the playthrough is done!
28 minutes, 30 seconds - Totally mixed up my right and left here. The conveyor belts only convey on the left side and not the right.
32 minutes, 30 seconds - A one out of 33.3333 percent chance? That didn't make any sense! It's either 1/3 or 33%. Math is hard!
49 minutes, 30 seconds - I said to swing and turn around once the enemy STARTS flashing. I explained it earlier in the video but you actually want to swing and turn around once the enemy STOPS flashing since that's when it loses its invulnerability frames.
Right after that I mentioned having to hit the RESET button on your NES, which is grey and has red letters on it. I wrongly assumed that everyone was playing on a front-loading NES. What a fool!
Oh and yes...I TECHNICALLY play as the other three turtles just long enough to get them killed within the first minute and I guess that TECHNICALLY counts as a "three death" run :)
Final thoughts:
This was definitely easier than the Mike or Raph challenge but was totally worth the ride. Playing the game through like this really teaches you a lot about the game. Only a solo Donatello run remains, which should be a lot of fun.
