The Best Calzone (Pizza Pocket) Recipe | Ham & Pesto
Remember pizza pockets?
This recipe is WAY more delicious, healthy and fresh--and both kids and adults will love it!
I use store-bought pizza dough but you could swap out homemade pizza dough if you have some on hand.
Another key ingredient in this recipe is my homemade Parsley Pesto.

Pesto and Ham Calzones

Serves 5
INGREDIENTS
700-g ball of raw pizza dough, at room temperature
Flour for rolling
5 tablespoons Parsley Pesto
5 slices ham
3 - 5 plum tomatoes, sliced
5 slices of mozzarella
Extra-virgin olive oil
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Preheat the oven to 425°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Divide the pizza dough into 5 equal pieces. Roll one into a 6-inch circle on a lightly floured counter. Spread 1 tablespoon of pesto along the bottom half of the circle. Top with a slice of ham, 2 - 3 slices of tomato and 1 slice of mozzarella. Fold over the top of the dough and crimp the edges together with a fork.
2. Transfer to the prepared baking sheet, then poke a few holes in the top of the calzone. Brush the top with extra-virgin olive oil.
3. Repeat with the remaining dough.
4. Bake for 9 - 15 minutes, or until the dough is golden.
