EP 35 Escape From Old Korvosa, The Curse of the Runelords (Pathfinder 1E Actual Play)
The Heroes of Sandpoint save the owner of the house but can do little for his shattered psyche. They do learn that the virtuoso was taken by Rolth Lamm.
Making their way through the city they feel at a loss to help and the desperation of the citizens seems overwhelming. While at the Grand Tower checking in with Marcus Endrin they learn from a hippogriff riding Sable Company Marine that the Orsini Fencing Academy was in flames. From there, the group went looking for Vencarlo Orsini, but find Red Mantis assassins waiting in ambush at his home. Dispatching them, they begin a search of Old Korvosa but are drawn to a sight of carnage in an alley. Looking on a dump of bodies, they detect the presence of evil in the nick of time as they are set upon by a quartet of vampire spawn, which they deal with. In the dump of bodies they find evidence that several of the dead were involved in a Sihedron Ritual that was both similar and different to the one they witnessed in Sandpoint and Magnimar.
The bodies were stamped with blood on their lower back and their lips were reddened with blood like a foul representation of makeup. Over the remainder of this day and most of the next, they set to investigating and found several more bodies indicating that the Sihedron Ritual had been performed on them. Knowing they were only seeing the tip of the iceberg, they began to investigate the Queen's Physicians and learned that they had magical masks blocking detection magic and the reading of minds. They seemed to be working out of a building newly named The Hospice of the Blessed Maiden.
