Code bootcamps are incredibly popular, but is it worth your time, energy and money? I'm going to give you three major points why NOT to go to one.
First of all, attending a code bootcamp is expensive. They can range from a few thousand to up to $20,000, depending on the program. You need to ask yourself: is the cost of the bootcamp worth the return you will get on your investment?
Second, some bootcamps are often not the most rigorous programs. They provide a very condensed and quick education but that doesn't mean it is a good education. This is especially concerning since many of these bootcamps do not offer any kind of accreditation.
Lastly, many teachers at code bootcamps are not experienced, qualified professionals. Bootcamps are often eager to fill their classes as quickly as possible, so they may not vet the educators they hire very well. This can lead to them not having the necessary qualifications and skills to properly teach a code class.
So those are three points why someone should think twice about attending a code bootcamp. Do your research and make sure you find out exactly what you're getting for your money. I wish you luck in deciding what educational path is right for you!
