In this episode of Hall of Fame Connections: Extra Innings, our panel of Carlos Peña, Lindsay Berra and Hall of Fame curator Tom Shieber take a deeper dive into "From a Yogi to a King."
The team talks about Don Larsen’s perfect game in the 1956 World Series and Yogi Berra’s critical role in it. They look into the origins of Berra’s glove used to catch Larsen’s legendary performance. They also explore the interesting career of the home plate umpire for that game, Babe Pinelli. Finally, Peña, Berra and Shieber take a closer look at George Brett’s infamous “pine tar” bat in connecting generations through the Museum’s treasures.
