In liquid helium II there are two excitations-phonons and rotons. These two excitations are assumed to be two parts of one and the same excitation energy-momentum curve E(p). Both phonons and rotons contribute to the thermodynamic properties of liquid helium II. At sufficiently low temperatures below 0.5 K, the contribution of phonons to the thermodynamic behavior of the liquid helium is predominating while above 1 K, the roton contribution is relatively more important. Here the contribution of rotons to the specific heat of liquid helium has been discussed.
