Protists In A Springtime Pond
A freshwater pond in Spring bloom. These are but a fraction of the protists at home in these shallow sunlit waters. Sampling from multiple sites around the pond reveals distinctly seperate gatherings of communities but with a common thread between them.
Taking the opportunity to push my sampling area further north, I'm finding that similar freshwater habitats are presenting the same set of creatures living together. Most notably an abundance of volvocales, synurophytes and cryptophytes out enjoying the Sun and warmer weather during Spring.
