This video teaches how to connect a microphone to OBS streaming software AND how to correct any left/right audio split problems (if you are only getting sound in one ear/speaker)
First, make sure your understand if your microphone is an XLR or a USB microphone. If it is an USB microphone, it will plug directly into your computer. If it is an XLR Microphone, you will need to connect it to an Audio Interface first, then connect the Audio Interface to your computer. If you are using an audio interface, make sure the audio interface driver is installed on your computer, and make sure the interface is turned on with +48V phantom power turned on as well. This will "power" your microphone and send signal into your computer.
Once everything in the above paragraph is setup. you can open OBS and go to "Settings" (near the bottom right). Then go to "Audio" and to the dropdown for "Mic/ Auxiliary Audio Device". Here you choose either YOUR microphone or Audio Interface. This will send the signal into OBS.
Now if you are only getting sound in one ear, you can fix this by going to the "Advanced Audio Properties". Click the gear settings symbol near the green signal meter (see video). here check the box for "downmix to mono". This will stop the left right stereo split and send the same signal to both ears.
