Mountaineer Devyani Semwal is on a mission to scale the world’s highest peaks. Raised in Mukhba, a quaint Himalayan village at the foothills of the Gangotri, her ambitions rival the formidable mountains that surround her. Having scaled Mt. Kilimanjaro, she now has her sights set on Mt. Everest and the famed seven summits – each marking a continent. But before she can fully embrace the great unknowns of her calling, she must look within. She must find her inner power, her flow. This spiritual quest leads her to another daughter of Mukhba – the river Goddess Ganga, whose own Himalayan journey forms an essential part of Devyani’s calling, her life, and longings.
Bowing to the trickling headstream at Gaumukh, the glacial womb from which the Ganga emerges as Bhagirathi, Devyani makes her way to Tapovan, a verdant meadow known as the forest of austerities. Here, she must begin her penance - the difficult, coveted ascent of Mt. Shivling. At the summit, where the snowy crown pierces the sky, Devyani stands tall, one with the billowing clouds. Having been embraced by the primordial elements, she is now ready to take on the great peaks of the world.
