STARGATE SG-1’S EARLY YEARS featured some of our favorite episodes of all time, as the show’s writers found imaginative ways to build out the Stargate universe – from alien races and new technologies to dangerous new threats to Earth.

One of our favorite early episodes is “Foothold,” a third-season story that saw a race of extragalactic aliens take control of Stargate Command and use their mimetic technology to pose as our people. It was written by Heather E. Ash, who worked as the show’s story editor for Season 3. (She also wrote “Learning Curve” and “New Ground,” and contributed episodes in Seasons 4 and 5.)

In this conversation with “Dial the Gate” she talks about the initial nugget of an idea for the episode as Stargate’s take on “Invasion of the Body Snatchers,” what changed in the course of writing, and how Colonel Maybourne almost wasn’t in the episode.

This clip is from Dial the Gate's full-length, 90-minute conversation with Heather. Watch the full interview here:    • 236: Heather E. Ash, Writer and Story...
