Samsung phones run Android, which historically isn't compatible with Apple's macOS, as the latter lacks native Android file transfer support. This issue affects all Samsung models, from the Galaxy A13 to the latest S24 Ultra. Typically, when connected to a MacBook, these devices would only charge rather than allow file transfers.
However, MacDroid offers a solution, allowing file transfers from your Samsung phone to your Mac both via cable and wirelessly. Today, we'll focus on wireless connections using Wi-Fi.
Here’s how:
1. Open MacDroid and select the "Connect via Wi-Fi" option.
2. On your Samsung phone, go to Settings ▶️ About phone ▶️ Build Number and tap 7 times to enable Developer Options.
3. In Developer Options, enable USB Debugging.
4. On your Mac, click on the Android version that matches your phone and follow the instructions on the screen.
To connect, use the QR code for convenience, and you're set to transfer files seamlessly. MacDroid also supports cable connections, showing your device as a folder in Finder, where you can manage and edit files directly.
