Cyanotypes are fun and easy to make. In this tutorial I will show you how to make them using a kit that came with pre-prepared paper. I went to lovely Zion National Park this week and decided to make this tutorial and include some of the scenery. All you need is cyanotype paper or sun print paper, a basin of water big enough to fit your paper in, some objects to use or a negative transparency, and the Sun. Some other things that you can use are a sheet of cardboard to put underneath and a sheet of glass to cover it with. (the glass is crucial if it is windy!) You can make a cyanotype print using paper already coated with the chemicals you need to make it work or you can make it yourself. I have used a brand called lumiprint (lumi.co) to print on paper and fabric. It worked well and went a long way. The kit I bought for this tutorial was at the Torpedo Factory in Virginia, but you can find them online. Enjoy!
