One Small Signal for Man: deploying LTE Communication on the Moon
The process of adapting technology for the environment of space comes with a set of exceptional and unique challenges. The problems associated with preparing hardware and software for deployment on the Moon are unlike anything we have to deal with when creating devices that work here on Earth. In this presentation, Nokians from the team behind the Moon LTE project give an inside look at the process of preparing Nokia's LTE solution for a journey beyond Earth's boundaries.
About the speaker - Błażej Michalik
During the day, Błażej is a Technical Leader at Nokia, where he is working on creating APIs for automating of all things related to BTS - most notably, he's involved in sending Nokia's LTE network to the Moon. At night, he can be found working on open source projects, rummaging through his pile of IC boards, or developing small OS kernels for fun. His hobbies are music, finding novel ways of crashing systems in production, and placing emojis where people won't expect to find them.
About the speaker - Rafał Słoma
SW Developer and Python trainer at Nokia. IT engineer, space and quantum physics enthusiast. During the work, automates processes by introducing new tools and simplifying existing ones. Doesn’t avoid challenges or tough projects. This attitude, lead him to LTE network on the moon project. Having in mind that space is the final frontier, he took this challenge. After the work, like to play some strategy or board games, as also visit squash court.
About the speaker - Paweł Cebula
Well, just Pawel, just a graduate of Wroclaw University of Technology and just a traverser over various project domains, such as:
- machine parts measurements, like couplings, bearing, shafts
- signal processing for machine vibration diagnosis,
- heating appliances and their supporting env
- 5G
Now he’s trying himself in leveraging his interest in space, because as a decent father he feels such a strong obligation to find a new place to inhabit for his kids.
