Rust as a viable option for the next 50 years of space exploration
Let me take you on Rust's journey of the past few years all the way to our efforts at the AeroRust community. A community focused on bringing people interested in the aerospace domain and building the ecosystem needed for such applications.
We're going to take a look at some examples of how the adoption of Rust has been going at various corners of the Internet, some of the challenges now and still ahead, and talk about the future that it can hold.
I'll finish up this talk by showing you a live demo of the Nanosatellite embedded workshop which we are working on at the community. It uses the latest-and-greatest asynchronous features and ecosystem and although young and still rapidly changing, these are tools that can easily excite you to try out.
About the speaker - Lachezar Lechev
Software engineer with experience in various domains, however, in the past few years he's been pursuing his long-time dream of working in aerospace. Instead of waiting to come by the right opportunity, 3 years ago, he decided to co-found the AeroRust community. As a community manager he has been pushing Rust adoption in the aerospace and robotics domains, advocating for open-source and open-source funding, alongside organising various community events and meetups, speaking at conferences and reaching out to organisations.
