Here are appearances of the Muppets cast on the news show Nightline/ABC News Special, Wall Street and the Economy from 1987. According to the Muppet Wiki, the special featured Kermit, Fozzie, Sam the Eagle, Rowlf, Lyle, Grump and a Muppet bull reporting from the Nightline studio. The special aired over a three hour period to address concerns from the dramatic Stock Market drop in previous weeks. The Muppets appeared to provide simple explanations of the many technical terms used when discussing the Market. Highlights included Kermit and Fozzie discussing a bull market and calculating the national debt. As host Ted Koppel indicates later in the broadcast, some of the Muppet material was pre-filmed.

A clip of Kermit and Miss Piggy on the special was shown in The Muppets Celebrate Jim Henson special from 1990 and another clip was shown of Kermit and Fozzie on the The World of Jim Henson special from 1994. In June 19, 2008, another clip from the special surfaced of Rowlf and Lyle from a low quality source by YouTuber 123koen. 10 years later, more clips from the special surfaced of Kermit, Fozzie, Rowlf the Dog, and Sam the Eagle from a vhs recording of the special by YouTuber miamitab on December 26, 2018. But strangely the date of the recording on that upload is from October 19, 1987 and not November 6, 1987, although it’s likely referring to the day the stock market crashed at the time.

There was a DVD listing of the special including the Muppets appearances on Amazon sometime in the late 2000s but that has now been out of print and been confirmed that the DVD does not include the entirety of the special. A clip of the special was posted on the ABC News site back in the day but the clip is no longer accessible and all that remains is a still of Kermit and Grump.

To this day not a single full recording of the special itself including the Muppet characters themselves has surfaced online, which the rest of the appearances is completely lost. So until more material of the Muppets appearances in the special surfaces online, this obscure piece of Muppets history, remains lost.
