Intellect Sucks in Destiny 2 Lightfall #shorts. In Destiny 2, there are 6 main stats that you can get on your character from your armor. Way too often I see people focusing their stats on Intellect instead of Resilience and Recovery. Presumably because having a super cool and powerful ultimate ability more often sounds great. However, I am here to tell you that Intellect really sucks.
Now to be clear, there are times when it does matter, like in round based PvP game modes like Trials with fast charging supers like Bubble or Well. However, beyond that, your points are often more efficient in other stats. When you look at the bonus and timer breakdown for these stats, you will see that you get the significant majority of Intellect bonuses from the first 3 levels.
The difference of cooldown time from tier 0 to tier 3 is 31%, or 4.5 minutes for a Hammer of Sol super. From tier 3 to tier 10 is an additional 21%, or 2.5 minutes. The first 3 tiers are worth almost double of the next 7.
Obviously this was made so you can’t just use your super all the time, which can turn the tide of battle if you get it at the right time. To be clear, I am not saying that supers are bad, but that putting points into Intellect isn't worth much past tier 3.
If you instead put those points in Resilience or Recovery, you can see a much bigger bonus. For Recovery, a tier 0 to 5 changes your regeneration time from 9 to 8 seconds. Tier 5 to 10 changes your timer from 8 to 6 seconds. Which is 11% vs an additional 25%. But in the end, it’s up to you to use your points how you want. I just wanted to help you understand what you are using your resources on. But honestly, Intellect sucks.
