There’s something beautiful about how athletes trended towards using two-foot running jumps to accomplish various athletic feats in sports, yet its so under-studied when compared to one-foot running jumps, and especially counter-movement jumps.
That magic lies in the shared responsibility of momentum redirection across legs. This inherently enabled a spectrum of movement strategies that may allow different strategies of movements to be successful.
Before, there’s been an almost binary description of the roles of each leg as the plant leg and the block leg, but how well do each of their names actually represent their roles in changing the body’s momentum?
That’s the goal of my first paper on two-foot running jumps. Follow for part 2.
